UGC NET 2019 Exam Pattern syllabus

UGC NET 2019 is organised by NTA which is a computer based test held in the month of June. The exam of UGC NET will be held from 20th June, 2019 to 28th June, 2019 all across India. The post for which the exam will be held is ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and ‘Assistant Professor’. Only those can fill for these exams that are eligible for these posts so the interested candidates must check for the eligibility. UGC NET is an exam at national level through which the students can apply for lectureship.

Those candidates who apply for this either want the admissions in Phd programmes or lectureship in the universities. The candidates should know the exam pattern and it is very important to know because the changes have been done in the exam pattern of UGC NET 2019

  • Earlier the test used to be of two papers i.e. paper 1 and paper 2 which were conducted in the two different sessions. It is mandatory for the candidates to complete both the papers in the time of one or two hours. Now the UGC NET exam will conducted in the time of 3 hours i.e. paper 1 and 2.
  • The exam will be online only i.e. computer based and the questions will be multiple choice questions. The candidates have to appear for both the exams so as to be eligible for the exams of assistant professor and JRF. It is compulsory for the candidates to attempt all the questions.

UGC NET 2019: Exam Pattern

There are two objective types of papers which are objective type. Both the papers have different difficulty level and different standard which increased from 1st round to the 2nd round. Check the UGC NET exam pattern:

PAPER – 1

In this paper, the round is of General aptitude test which has many sections like comprehension reading, general awareness, reasoning ability and mental ability. There will be 50 questions which will be of 2 marks.

PAPER -2

The subject of paper 2 which is opted by the students consists of the 100 MCQ questions which are also of two marks each.

The UGC NET exam pattern is as follows:

UGC NET 2019: Selection Procedure And Cut Off

The applicants are required to get the minimum marks –

STEP 1

  • General Category Candidates – Candidates must obtain 40% total marks in both the Papers.
  • Saved Category Candidates – Candidates must obtain 35% total marks in both the Papers.

STEP 2

Among those competitors who have cleared advance I, a merit list will be released subject-wise and class insightful utilizing the total signs of the two papers verified by such applicants.

STEP 3

Top 6% applicants (for each subject and class), from the merit list referenced under advance II, will be announced NET equipped for qualification for Assistant Professor as it were.

STEP 4

A different merit list for the award of ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ (JRF) will be set up from among the NET qualified applicants figuring in the merit list arranged under step III.

UGC NET 2019: Nature Of Questions

  • The questions in the paper 1 and 2 will be objective type questions.
  • This implies, every one of the questions in UGC NET 2019 will be of Multiple Choice sort (MCQs), having 4 decisions.
  • Applicants must choose the most fitting answer.
  • The length of Paper 1 is an hour (60 minutes) and Paper 2 is 120 minutes (2 hours)

Total Questions

  • Paper 1 will have 50 questions and Paper 2 will have 100 questions altogether.
  • No confinement to move back and forth among the segments.
  • Every one of the questions is mandatory to attempt.

UGC NET 2019: Marking Scheme

  • A uniform checking framework is followed in the test for example for Paper 1 and 2, each right answer conveys + 2 marks.
  • According to the modified test example of UGC NET Exam, there is no negative marking for any unanswered or wrong answer.
  • Thus, rather than avoiding any question, one can utilize their determined guess and mark the appropriate response.

UGC NET 2019: Syllabus

The syllabus of UGC NET 2019 subjects has been revised which includes Paper I on General Awareness. For the upcoming exam from June 2019 onwards, the updated syllabus of UGC NET 2019 will be applicable. The examination has been scheduled from June 20 to 28 in CBT mode. It is a Computer based online exam organized by NTA across the nation. This exam is conducted for the post of Assistant Professor and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).

UGC NET 2019 Updated Syllabus 

The syllabus for UGC Net 2019 varies as per subjects opted by the candidates at the time of registration. A briefing of both papers is given below:

UGC NET PAPER I

  • It is designed for testing the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
  • Questions will be of generic nature intending to assess the research/teaching aptitude of candidate.
  • Common paper for all the candidates.
  • Paper I Comprises Of The Following Syllabi:

(I) From each module five questions each carrying 2 marks are set.

(II) When graphical and pictorial questions are set for the sighted candidates, then a passage followed by the equal number of questions and weight age are set for the visually impaired applicants.

UGC NET PAPER II

  • All questions of Paper II are compulsory.
  • Questions are based on the subjects selected by the candidates.
  • Applicants will have to select any one subject for NET examination and candidates prefer the subject of their post graduation.
  • It is advised to the students to revise all the topics of Bachelor’s and Master’s syllabus.

Latest Changes made in UGC NET 2019

NTA (National Testing Agency) is the new regulatory authority of UGC NET examination. Now CBSE will no longer conduct this examination. This has brought few major and minor changes in UGC NET. One of the most major changes made in the UGC NET examination, was the merging of Paper 3 with Paper 2, thus now the UGC NET examination consists of only 2 papers. The updated syllabus will be applicable for the upcoming examination from June 2019 onwards. Now NTA will hold the National Eligibility Test. The registration procedure will start from June 2019; applicants can apply online before March 30.
